Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward…
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.”
INTRODUCTION
A dead end in the natural world is absolute. It is a brick wall, a cliff’s edge, or a blocked road where forward momentum grinds to a halt. When human logic hits a physical or financial dead end, it declares that the journey is over.
In “Beyond the Calculator: Shifting from Human Logic to Divine Possibility,” we observed that when a sudden crisis hits, our natural default is to reach for a calculator, analyze our limitations, and conclude that the obstacle is too vast. Throughout this series, we have seen how human math fails when confronted with life’s greatest demands. In “Defying the Deadness: Choosing Faith When the Facts Say ‘No’,” we learned that physical facts can scream “No,” yet God’s Word holds the ultimate power to override natural limitations.
Now, in this study, God invites us to step entirely out of human paralysis and witness His ultimate specialty: turning absolute dead ends into glorious open doors. As Isaiah 43:19 declares, God does not merely locate existing pathways—He makes a way in the wilderness and carves rivers through parched deserts. When you stand trapped between an advancing enemy and an impassable sea, faith does not panic or turn back; faith steps forward into the supernatural capacity of Almighty God.
- Releasing the Past to Receive the New (Isaiah 43:18-19)
Before God introduces a miraculous way forward, He issues a command in verse 18: “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.”
Detaching from Past Traumas and Models: Dwelling on past failures, closed doors, or previous ways God provided can blind you to the new thing He wants to do today. God is not limited to repeating old methods.
The Promise of Supernatural Creation: God does not say, “I will find a road.” He says, “I will make a way in the wilderness.” Where no natural infrastructure, career path, or financial avenue exists, God possesses the creator-authority to manufacture one out of nothing.
Perceiving the New Thing: God asks, “shall ye not know it?” Spiritual perception is required to recognize divine opportunities when they first spring forth as small seeds.
- The Command to Move Forward (Exodus 14:15)
When the Israelites were trapped at the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army closing in behind them, panic erupted. Moses cried out to God, but God’s response was surprisingly direct: “Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.”
When Prayer Must Become Action: There is a time to pray, and there is a time to march. When God has spoken a promise, standing still in fearful hesitation displeases Him. Faith moves forward even before the sea parts.
Refusing to Turn Back: The temptation at a dead end is to surrender or return to past bondage. In “Silencing the ‘But What Are They?’: Overcoming the Voice of Self-Doubt,” we saw how fear tempts us to retreat into self-criticism. God’s directive at every dead end remains unchanged: advance.
The Anointing of the First Step: The waters of the Red Sea did not divide while the people sat idle in their tents. Divine momentum is released when your feet begin to march toward the obstacle in simple obedience.
- Highways in the Depths (Exodus 14:21-22)
When Moses stretched out his hand in obedience, God dispatched a strong east wind that parted the waters, transforming a dark sea bed into dry ground.
Turning Walls into Walkways: The very water that threatened to drown the Israelites became wall-like protection on their left and right. God can take the very crisis threatening to destroy you and convert it into a highway to your victory.
Walking on Dry Ground: God did not make them wade through deep mud or struggle through marshland; He turned the ocean floor into dry ground. When God opens a door out of an impossibility, He provides total stability for your journey.
A Complete End to the Pursuer: The same path that served as an open door of salvation for God’s children became a trap of judgment for the enemy army. When God opens a way for you, He permanently settles the power of the enemy over your life.
BIBLE CHARACTER EXAMPLE: PAUL AND SILAS IN THE PHILIPPIAN JAIL (Acts 16:22-30)
A powerful New Testament demonstration of a total dead end being transformed into an open door of salvation and liberty is the experience of Paul and Silas in Philippi.
They had been publicly beaten with rods, covered in bleeding wounds, stripped of their rights, and cast into the innermost dungeon of a maximum-security prison. To make their dead end absolute, their feet were locked fast in heavy wooden stocks. Humanly speaking, their mission was aborted, their movement was crushed, and their future was trapped behind stone walls and iron gates.
However, Paul and Silas refused to run “Philip’s math” or indulge in despair. Instead of complaining about the dead end, at midnight they began to pray and sing praises unto God at the top of their lungs, while the other prisoners listened.
Suddenly, a massive earthquake shook the very foundations of the prison! Instantly, every heavy iron door flew wide open, and everyone’s bands were loosed. The physical dead end of the dungeon was turned into an open door—not only for their physical freedom, but for the spiritual salvation of the jailer and his entire household. Paul and Silas proved that no prison, stock, or dead end can withstand the power of a faith-filled voice praising God in the dark.
CONCLUSION
Beloved, look back over the landscape of your life. Where have you allowed human logic, financial spreadsheets, short resources, or intimidating facts to convince you that you are sitting at a dead end?
Remember that you serve the Almighty God who specializes in the impossible. He is the God who multiplies five loaves into twelve baskets of surplus, who turns physical deadness into resurrection life, and who splits raging seas to create dry highways for His people.
Put away your calculator of anxiety once and for all. Stop staring at the brick walls in front of you, stop fearing the economic reports, and silence every internal voice of self-doubt. Lift up your eyes to the Christ standing beside you, take a bold step of obedience, and march forward. The God who makes a way in the wilderness is going before you today—and He is turning your greatest dead end into your most glorious open door.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, You are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the God who opens doors that no man can shut and makes pathways through the deepest seas.
Forgive me for every time I have panicked at a dead end, trusted in my own limited calculations, or allowed fear to turn me back. Today, I anchor my heart in Your absolute sovereignty.
I declare that my life, my family, my health, my career, and my finances are in Your hands.
I let go of past failures and former ways, and I choose to perceive the new thing You are doing.
I take my step of faith today, confident that You are making a way in my wilderness and turning every impossible dead end into an open door of victory, grace, and superabundance.
