If your peace is tied to the stability of a human institution or an earthly economy, your heart will be in a constant state of panic because everything around us is subject to shaking.
The scriptures do not deny the reality of global or personal upheavals. In fact, God openly declares that He will allow earthly systems to shake so that the fragility of human self-reliance can be exposed. However, for the believer, this shaking is not a cause for panic. It is a reminder that our citizenship belongs to a completely different realm—a supernatural domain that stands completely insulated from cosmic, global, or personal disasters.
Focus
Our primary focus is to find absolute stability during global or personal crises by anchoring our hope in God’s unshakeable, eternal kingdom. We will understand that when earthly foundations crumble, the structural reality of God’s sovereign rule remains completely unaffected.
Hebrews 12:28 (NKJV)
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”
1. The Reality of the Divine Shaking
To fully appreciate an unshakeable kingdom, we must look at the immediate context of Hebrews 12. In the preceding verses, God states, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven” (Hebrews 12:26).
- This shaking is a sovereign act of structural filtration. God permits crises to test every human platform, career, and philosophy.

Daniel lived as an exile in a foreign land and witnessed the violent collapse of empires. He saw the mighty Babylonian Empire fall in a single night to the Medo-Persians. Despite these massive geopolitical disruptions, Daniel remained at peace, serving with excellence and rising to the highest levels of leadership.
The ultimate test came when a political conspiracy targeted Daniel, leading to a decree that threw him into a den of hungry lions. The earthly system he served had completely turned against him.
Yet, Daniel’s internal peace was flawless. When King Darius rushed to the den the next morning, he found Daniel completely unharmed, resting in the custody of an angel. Look at the conclusion Darius reached after witnessing Daniel’s unshakeable peace and survival in Daniel 6:26: “For He is the living God, and steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end.” Daniel survived the lions and outlasted emperors because his life was built on a kingdom that human laws and savage beasts could not shake.
