“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.”

Introduction
Many believers view the blessings of God as random acts of favoritism or unconditional promises that require nothing more than passive waiting. However, the kingdom of God operates on a covenant structure. God’s promises are not automatic; they are unlocked when we accept and execute our scriptural responsibilities.

The twenty-eighth chapter of Deuteronomy opens with a master blueprint for supernatural elevation and unstoppable blessings. Yet, before the long list of glorious possibilities is pronounced, God places a single, decisive word at the threshold: “IF.” This two-letter word forms the divine bridge between human compliance and heavenly release. To experience kingdom possibilities, we must understand and align with the principle of the “If.”

1. The Conditional Nature of Kingdom Elevation
   The heights promised in Deuteronomy 28—being set on high above nations and overtaken by blessings—are anchored on a conditional covenant. The word “if” establishes that God’s performance is tied to our compliance. When we hearken, observe, and do, we create the legal and spiritual platform for God to fulfill His Word.

Exodus 19:5 (KJV) – “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people…”

2. The Three-Fold Demand: Hearken, Observe, and Do
   Divine responsibility is not partial; it requires a complete cycle of obedience:

Hearken Diligently: Attentive, intentional listening to God’s voice and Word.

Observe: Studying and understanding the specific details of the instruction.

Do: Practical execution without procrastination or compromise.

James 1:22 (KJV) – “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

3. Blessings as Overtaking Forces
   When a believer stays within the boundaries of scriptural responsibility, blessings cease to be things chased after—they become pursuing forces. You do not spend your life chasing miracles; your alignment forces the miracles to track you down and overtake you.

A profound example of the “If” principle in action is seen in the life of Joshua during the conquest of Jericho.

Scripture: Joshua 6:2-5 (KJV)
“And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour. And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days… And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat…”

God had already declared that Jericho was given into Joshua’s hands (the possibility). However, the collapse of the city walls was conditioned on a specific, non-negotiable instruction: marching around the walls for seven days in silence, blowing ram’s horns, and shouting on the seventh day (the responsibility).

Joshua did not debate the logical sense of marching instead of using battering rams. He observed and executed every detail. When Israel completed their responsibility on the seventh day, the supernatural possibility was released, and the walls collapsed flat. Had Joshua ignored the “if” of God’s strategy, Jericho would have remained an unconquered fortress.

Conclusion
God’s capability is endless, but His operations are orderly. He has designed His kingdom so that our obedience becomes the activation key for His power. If you are trusting God for elevation, breakthrough, or divine supply, stop waiting passively. Look into the Scriptures, locate the “if” attached to your desired outcome, and step onto the platform of compliance. As you take up your divine responsibility, God will faithfully respond with His glorious possibilities.
